Roster 04-A
Know what this suspect file will not reveal
The official premise confirms a victim, a locked room, an ancient cauldron, and a submarine crewed by sketchy suspects. That is enough to establish the case without deciding who is guilty. This page therefore records identities and source-backed case categories only. It does not sort the crew into innocent and guilty groups, summarize final deductions, or use an achievement title as a character clue. A player can open the roster early, refresh a spelling, and return to the game without learning the solution.
Keep your own notes in four columns: statement, circumstance, physical evidence, and open question. A statement belongs to the person who said it, not automatically to the truth column. Circumstance covers where and when the statement applies. Physical evidence records what the game lets you inspect independently. The open question is the narrow contradiction or missing fact you still need to test. This method prevents a colourful personality or unusual name from becoming a substitute for evidence and makes later dialogue easier to compare.
- Identity is safe: exact names and broad case roles appear here.
- Culprit analysis is excluded: no guilt ranking, ending summary, or final deduction.
- A developer reveal proves that a name belongs in the roster; it does not prove motive, alibi, or guilt.
- Achievement names remain in the completion ledger and are not treated as suspect evidence.
Roster 04-B
Separate investigators, victim, and suspect pool
Detective Grimoire and Sally are the investigation-facing names in the official release presentation, while Captain Mortuga is the victim named in the official Steam description. These roles are structurally different from the eight names in the developer’s suspect reveal. Keeping them separate avoids a common case-note error: treating every named person as an equivalent suspect or attaching a crew statement to one of the investigators. The roster is a memory aid, not a theory board.
Captain Mortuga’s confirmed importance comes from the opening circumstance: he lies dead beside an ancient cauldron in an apparently impossible locked room. The victim’s position, the object beside him, and the room’s access are evidence categories for the walkthrough. They are not biographical claims. Likewise, Grimoire and Sally’s presence tells you whose inspection and dialogue perspective moves the investigation, but this page does not invent separate abilities, stats, or relationship fields that the sealed source record does not support.

Roster 04-C
Record the eight developer-revealed suspects
SFB Games’ developer-marked Steam discussion thread names eight suspects: Godrik Gripp, Madam Tadpole, J. D. Wirman, Symmetry Silkmoth, Mariana Moon, Doctor Zephyr, Sinthia Seafoam, and Dirk Dansom. The exact names are useful before any role summary because several contain punctuation, titles, or uncommon spellings. Preserve J. D. with its periods and spaces, preserve Doctor as written, and distinguish Sinthia Seafoam from the achievement title Radio Seafoam without assuming that the shared surname proves a trigger or deduction.
Each row carries the same evidence boundary. “Developer-revealed suspect” means the publisher placed the name in the suspect reveal; it does not mean this wiki has verified an occupation, motive, alibi, voice actor, or outcome. Add those fields only when a first-party source states them or when the game presents them directly in a verifiable record. Until then, attach your play notes beneath the correct exact name and keep theories separate from the public roster.

Roster 04-D
Attach testimony to circumstances, not personalities
When a suspect gives a statement, record the event and time it describes before judging it. An alibi can cover one interval but leave another open; two statements can sound different while describing separate circumstances. Note whether the speaker claims direct observation, repeats another person’s account, or offers an interpretation. Then look for a physical clue that can test the statement independently. That connection is stronger than a tone of voice, a joke, or an eccentric design.
Update the ledger after the game changes your objective. A fresh clue may narrow the relevant person, unlock a new topic, or change the meaning of an earlier object. Do not rewrite old notes to fit the new theory; preserve the original wording and add a dated or ordered correction beneath it. This creates an auditable trail for deductions and helps if the game rejects a connection. The suspect page supplies names; the walkthrough supplies sequence; the puzzle desk supplies a controlled method for the current logical or inspection obstacle.

Spoiler-safe roster questions
These answers are limited to the official premise and the developer-marked reveal record. They are intended for name recall and note organization, not for solving the final deduction.
Who are the named suspects in The Mermaid Mask?
The eight entries in Roster 04-C are the complete developer-revealed suspect set used by this casebook. Their exact spellings come from SFB Games’ developer-marked Steam thread, and the roster does not add unsupported motives, alibis, occupations, guilt rankings, or a culprit conclusion.
Who is the victim in the official premise?
Captain Mortuga is the victim named by the official Steam description. He is found dead beside an ancient cauldron in an impossible locked room aboard the Mortuga Submarine. This page does not state a cause, culprit, or final explanation for that circumstance.
Does this page reveal the culprit?
No. The file separates investigators, victim, and developer-revealed suspects, then stops at identity and note-taking method. It contains no guilt ranking, final deduction, ending summary, or attempt to turn achievement names into suspect evidence.
